Romania's National Integrity Agency (ANI) has asked the National Anticorruption Department (DNA) to investigate claims of conflict of interest brought against former Labor Minister Ioan Botis.

Romania's National Integrity Agency (ANI) has asked the National Anticorruption Department (DNA) to investigate claims of conflict of interest brought against former Labor Minister Ioan Botis.

ANI inspectors said there are substantial clues that Botis is guilty of conflict of interest raised by the fact that his wife is an adviser on a EU and Government-funded project, by the Bistrita-Nasaud county-based NGO Asociatia Parteneriat Euroactiv.

ANI also said the former minister's wife, Ligia Adina Botis, as well as NGO official Dorin Radu Stoina and project manager Carmen Diana Magda, should be investigated on corruption charges.

Botis resigned from the ministry last week and was replaced by Prime Minister Emil Boc in an acting capacity.
