05.31.2011 By Ioana Tudor

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday adopted with 174 to 110 votes and three abstentions a bill whereby mayors will be elected in a single round of elections, unless none of the candidates receives the majority of votes.

Deputies adopted the articles of the bill on Monday.

The normative act was rejected by the Senate last month and the Lower House was the deciding chamber.
