Romanian anticorruption prosecutors on Wednesday indicted 62 border police officers and 4 customs workers at the Siret crossing point in northeastern Romania on charges of corruption.

Romanian anticorruption prosecutors on Wednesday indicted 62 border police officers and 4 customs workers at the Siret crossing point in northeastern Romania on charges of corruption.

Prosecutors said 49 of the people indicted are under arrest.

According to the bill of indictment, the 62 border police officers from Siret customs took bribes amounting to 3,643,513 lei (about EUR893,740) between September 2010 and January 2011. The four customs workers are accused of offering bribes.

The case will be tried by the Suceava Court of Appeals.
