Romania To Open First Life Sciences Institute

The Cluj-Napoca University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine will open, on Friday, Romania's first Institute of Life Sciences, through a EUR10 million investment.

University rector Doru Pamfil said Tuesday, in a press conference, that the faculty wants to become involved in more fields, such as diet, human and animal health. The institute will have a biotechnology platform and environmental science laboratories.

The university will also open the Transylvania Institute for Advanced Horticultural Research, a EUR15 million investment funded by the European Union, outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.
