Interior Minister Traian Igas on Monday said Romania will not raise its terror alert level following the death of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Igas said authorities must be prepared to counter possible terrorist attacks and added Romania will not raise the terror-threat level.

U.S. President Barack Obama announced in a speech that he has authorized the operation that killed bin Laden in Pakistan on Sunday and added no Americans were harmed during the attack.

The U.S. Department for Homeland Security has not raised the national terror-threat level following bin Laden's death, a department official said Monday, cited by CNN.

Bin Laden was shot in the head in a U.S. raid on a compound near Pakistan's capital on Sunday.
