Romanian Frigate "Regele Ferdinand" Sails For Libya On Friday

The Romanian frigate "Regele Ferdinand" will set sail to join NATO's Operation "Unified Protector" on Friday, after a ceremony held in the port of Constanta, in the presence of Defense Minister Gabriel Oprea.

The Romanian frigate "Regele Ferdinand" will set sail to join NATO's Operation "Unified Protector" on Friday, after a ceremony held in the port of Constanta, in the presence of Defense Minister Gabriel Oprea.

The frigate will participate in enforcing an embargo against Libya. It has a crew of 205 plus two staff officers.

On March 22, the Supreme Defense Council decided that Romania will take part in the military operations in Libya with the "Regele Ferdinand" frigate and 207 troops. This operation will cost EUR4.5 million.
