Romania's Senate on Tuesday rejected a bill amending Law 267/2004, whereby mayors would be elected in a single round of voting, unless none of the candidates receives the majority of votes.

Romania's Senate on Tuesday rejected a bill amending Law 267/2004, whereby mayors would be elected in a single round of voting, unless none of the candidates receives the majority of votes.

The bill needed 69 votes to pass, but only 45 senators voted for; 43 voted against and one senator abstained.
