Ruling Coalition May Discuss Replacing PM - Sources

Romania’s ruling coalition will hold a meeting Tuesday and might discuss whether to replace Emil Boc as prime minister following his reelection as head of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party, people close to the matter said Monday.

"The coalition has a meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning and they may discuss replacing the prime minister. But such a move would take a while because parties in the coalition need to be well organized to make sure the government garners enough support in Parliament," the sources told MEDIAFAX.

Boc on Saturday was reelected president of the Democratic Liberal Party and some of his supporters consider he should step down as head of government and focus on party issues.

Boc has declined to state whether or not he plans to resign from the position of prime minister.
