Senate Tacitly Adopts Postal Voting Bill

05.09.2011 By Ioana Tudor

The Romanian Senate on Monday adopted tacitly a bill introducing postal voting for Romanians abroad, which was put forward by several ruling democrat liberal lawmakers.

In March, the Senate's committee for legal matters rejected the bill, as the Government said it was working on a similar normative act.

The final decision on this bill belongs to the Chamber of Deputies.

Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Baconschi said earlier Monday the Government is likely to debate this week a new bill regarding postal voting for Romanians abroad. After debates in the Government, the bill, which has been drawn up by the minister, will be sent to the Parliament.
