Unions, Employers To Have No Vote In Romania's Euro Adoption Committee

05.10.2011 By Bostan Radu

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc has decided that employers' associations and labor unions will be represented in the inter-ministry committee that will prepare the adoption of the euro by one member each, but only as observers, with no vote.

In late-April, the Government decided to keep the year 2015 as the official deadline for euro adoption and set up a committee to oversee the necessary steps in view of joining the Eurozone.

At the time, Boc announced the committee will be headed by the prime minister and will include the central bank governor, deputy prime minister, the ministers of Finance, Economy, Labor, Education, Foreign Affairs, Justice and Interior, as well as officials of the Department for European Affairs, National Forecast Commission, National Statistics Institute and the prime minister's staff.
