Romanian companies estimate economic activity will pick up in the second quarter of 2011 from a quarter before, with the constructions sector set up to improve more vigorously, the statistics institute INS said in a statement Thursday.

The polled managers said they expect the manufacturing sector to remain stable in January to March.

Employee numbers are seen stable in all sectors, except for constructions, were employers are estimated to hire additional staff.

The polled managers said they expect prices to grow modestly in all sectors.

INS interviewed 8,212 managers in the four Romanian major economic sectors.
