Romanian Leu Touches Record Low At 5.2788 Vs Euro Amid Prolonged Political Crisis

The Romanian leu hit a new record low by midday Wednesday (Sept 23, 2026) and the central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 5.2788 lei per euro, 0.27% weaker than 5.2647 lei per euro on Tuesday (Sept 22), as Romania remains locked in a lingering political impasse.
