Bucharest Shares Close Down, Proprietatea Recovers Part Of Loss

The Bucharest bourse closed Tuesday on a downward path, as the indexes stayed in red territory for the whole session, on moderate trading values.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C fell 0.72% on the day, to 3,284.95, while the BET index, which tracks the top 10 most-traded shares, dropped 0.93%, to 5,483.51.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, declined 0.33% on the day, to 22,049.19.

Wider blue-chip index BET-XT dropped 0.73% to 502.14, while BET-NG, tracking energy companies, closed at 783.01, down 0.45% on the day.

Trades unfolded Tuesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to 36.37 million lei (EUR8.82 million), higher than RON22.49 million in the previous session.

The Proprietatea fund was once again the top-traded issuer. Its shares fell 0.3%, to RON0.5, on a traded value of RON19.33 million. Proprietatea reverted earlier losses by closing bell, after touching an all-time low at RON0.4975 during the session.

BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO), the second-top traded stock, dropped 2.74%, to RON14.2, on a traded value of RON7.36 million.

Other popular stocks included SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), which closed flat at RON1.34, Oltchim (OLT.RO), which jumped 10.79% to RON0.801 and OMV Petrom (SNP.RO), which dropped 0.32% to RON0.399. (EUR1=RON4.1233)
