Bucharest Shares Open Down, Proprietatea Fund Continues Decline

The-Bucharest listed shares were slightly down in early trade Wednesday, due to a negative sentiment on international markets caused by renewed fears on euro-zone countries' debts, and Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) continued its slide, touching a fresh all-time low.

At around 10:38 local time (GMT0738), the Bucharest stock exchange's composite index BET-C was down 0.4%, while the main index BET was losing 0.45%.

BET-FI, the index tracking Proprietatea and the five regional investment funds SIFs was down 1%.

The extended blue-chip index BET-XT was losing 0.6%, while energy stocks index BET-NG was down a mere 0.05%.

The bourse's total traded value amounted to 4 million lei (less than EUR1 million), with Proprietatea and the SIFs leading the trades.

Proprietatea shares traded at RON0.495, after touching an all-time low at RON0.493 earlier.(EUR1=RON4.1233)
