Bucharest Shares Open Up, On Dull Trading

The Bucharest bourse opened Wednesday on a rising trend, while investor activity in the market remained moderate to low, keeping the pace seen over the past several days.

At around GMT0735, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.45%, while the 10-share blue-chip index BET was rising 0.78%.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, was gaining 0.5%.

Wider blue-chip index BET-XT was up 0.6%, while energy companies tracker BET-NG was rising 0.83% on the day.

Trades unfolded by GMT0737 Wednesday amounted to 2.47 million lei (EUR600,000), roughly the same as the value seen in the previous session.

Popular issuers early Wednesday included the Proprietatea fund, lender Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), stoves and pots maker VES Sighisoara (VESY.RO), SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) and SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO). (EUR1=RON4.1051)
