Bucharest Stocks Flat In Early Session In Dull Trading

The Bucharest-listed stocks were almost unchanged after the first hour of trading Tuesday, with financial stocks pushing the still low traded values.

At around 11:00 local time (GMT0800), the Bucharest bourse’s main index BET was up a mere 0.04% from Monday closing level, while general index BET-C was gaining 0.16%.

Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and Transgaz (TGN.RO) all traded up 0.4%, but their gains were offset by declines of BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) and OMV Petrom (SNP.RO). BRD was falling 0.6%, and Petrom traded 0.2% lower.

BET-FI, which tracks Proprietatea and the five regional investment funds (SIFs) was up 0.17%.

SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO) was up 0.5% and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1.RO) gained 0.4%, but SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) was losing 0.5%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.17%, while the extended blue-chip index BET-XT inched 0.04% higher. Energy stocks tracker BET-NG was stable.

After the first hour of trading, the bourse’s turnover was at some 2.5 million lei (EUR0.55 million). The trading charts were led by Fondul Proprietatea, Erste Group Banks (EBS.RO) and BRD, which cumulated deals worth of more than RON1.6 million. (EUR1=RON4.4201)
