Bucharest Stocks Open Down, In Line With European Markets

The Bucharest stock exchange opened on a downward trend Thursday, following the evolution of the main European markets, on a relatively low traded value.

At around 10:40 local time (GMT0840), the Bucharest market’s BET index was down 0.38% from Wednesday closing level, while composite index BET-C was losing 0.21%.

BET-FI, which tracks the five regional investment funds (SIFs) and Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO), traded down 0.15%.

Fondul Proprietatea was down 0.5%, while both OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) were losing 0.7%. On the other hand, Transelectrica (TEL.RO) traded up 0.7%.

Energy stocks tracker BET-NG was down 0.12%, while extended blue-chip index BET-XT was down 0.27%.

However, Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.19%, supported by Erste Group Bank’s (EBS.RO) 2.4% increase.

The traded values were reduced, reaching just 2 million lei (EUR0.45 million) at around 10:40. (EUR1=RON4.4179)
