Bucharest Stocks Open Up, Traded Values Stay Low

The Bucharest stock exchange traded up Monday morning, but the traded values were low, barely reaching 1 million lei (EUR0.2 million) after the first hour of the session.

At around 11:00 local time (GMT0800), the Bucharest market’s BET index was up 33.04 points, or 0.57%, from Friday closing level, lifted mainly by financial stocks. Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) was up 0.8%, Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was gaining 0.4%, while BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) was 0.6% higher.

Energy stocks were also up, with OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) gaining 0.7% and Transelectrica (TEL.RO) trading up 1.4%.

Composite index BET-C was up 14.66 points, or 0.48%, while the extended blue-chip index BET-XT, was gaining 0.53%.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea and the five regional investment funds (SIFs), was up 105.94 points, or 0.42%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK traded up 0.42%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG was up 0.56%.
