Bucharest Stocks Stable; Special Deals Lift Traded Value

The Bucharest-listed stocks were largely stable for the third day in a row Wednesday, while the traded values were pushed by some special deals.

The BET index closed at 7,048.07 points, up 0.1% from Tuesday closing level, while BETPlus was up 0.13% to 1,045.6 points.

Among the most traded stocks, Electrica (EL.RO) closed up 1.4% at 11.32 lei (EUR2.6) per share, an all-time high. On the other hand, Romgaz (SNG.RO) and Banca Transilvania continued their decline, dropping by 0.2% and 0.4%, respectively.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds SIFs, increased by 0.16%, lifted by SIF Transilvania’s (SIF3.

RO) 1.2% gain. Proprietatea rose 0.4%, but the other four SIFs were in negative territory.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.48%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG closed 0.17% higher.

The bourse’s overall traded value was RON44.6 million (EUR10.1 million), more than double compared with RON16.8 million Tuesday. Transfers with Electrica shares reached RON11.7 million, but the total was helped by some special deals with the shares of OMV Petrom (SNP.RO), Fondul Proprietatea and BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO).
