Leu Dips Vs Euro Amid Growing FX Demand

The leu weakened against the euro Monday, amid growing demand for foreign currency, and closed at 4.0935/4.0943 units, from 4.0755/4.0765 units in the previous session.

The leu opened down at 4.076/4.079 per euro and further lost ground, hitting the day's low at 4.094 per euro.

The central bank set the leu's reference at 4.086 per euro, 0.3% weaker on the day.

On the money market, overnight rates fell to 4.9%-5.4% a year, from 5.1%-5.6% a year Friday.
