Leu Trades Around 4.41 Vs Euro In Quiet Market

The Romanian leu stayed in a narrow range Tuesday morning, trading around 4.41 against the euro, on low transferred volumes.

The leu opened at 4.409/4.411 to the euro, from 4.412/4.415 to the euro at Monday closing.

It further traded in a narrow range, while the interest for trading was reduced, dealers said.

On Monday, the leu lost some 0.5% against the European currency, on a negative sentiment on international markets.

The Romanian central bank set the leu’s exchange rate at 4.417 per euro, the weakest level in ten weeks.

On the money market Tuesday morning, overnight rates stayed at 1%-1.5% a year.
