The exit of ING’s brokerage firm highlights the disaster on the Romanian capital market, where more than one quarter of the brokerage firms have closed in the last four years. The lack of new flotations, the dwindling number of investors and the fee war have rendered brokerage businesses unprofitable, making many traders turn to something else.
