Tarnita Hydropower Plant To Start Production In 2019

05.05.2011 By Andrei Circhelan

The Tarnita-Lapustesti hydropower plant in Romanian county Cluj will start production in 2019, following an investment estimated at EUR1.028 billion, Thursday said Razvan Cojoc, representative of Hidroelectrica, which will hold 51% in the project.

The project company will include private partners cumulating 49%, who "will be asked to contribute solely through direct financing," Cojoc said, quoting the project's presentation.

Aside from the initial investment, state-owned electricity transporter Transelectrica (TEL.RO) will connect the plant to the national grid, in an operation set to cost EUR135 million.

Authorities talked with 150 potential investors for the project, and the shortlist includes over 10 companies.

Investors will be drawn between June 2011 and January 2012, and the project company will be created in February 2012.
