INS: April Housing Permits Down 2% On Month

Romanian housing permits inched down 1.9% to 3,083 units in April, from 3,114 units a month earlier, the country’s statistics institute INS said Wednesday.

Compared with April 2011, new building permits declined 2%, the data showed.

Residential constructions in rural areas made up for 68% of the new housing permits issued in April.

New permits for non-residential buildings, including administrative structures, stood at 589 units in April, up 5.9% from the previous month, but down 5% from the same month of last year.

In January through April, Romanian housing permits reached 9,958 units, down 5.5% on the year.
