Retailer Mega Image, which owns Mega Image supermarkets, Red Market discount stores and Shop&Go proximity stores on the Romanian market, is set to open another two units in the following week, reaching a total number of eight launches this year.

"The first to be opened, in late May, is the store in Bucharest, on Petre Ispirescu Street. The store in Busteni will open its doors on June 1," says Raluca Pavel, marketing manager with Mega Image.

The Busteni store is the first the company is poised to open in Prahova Valley.

Mega Image representatives do not provide any data on store investments, but according to the latest data held by ZF, the average investment per store stands at EUR1.5 million, meaning the Belgians have spent around EUR12 million on the eight stores.

This year, the Belgian retailer has been one of the most dynamic in terms of expansion, together with Profi with 12 newly opened stores and Carrefour Market with 3.
