Tourism Ministry: Lodging Unit Licenses Up 350% On Year In Jan-May

The number of authorizations for lodging units issued by the Tourism Ministry in the first five months increased by 350% compared to the same period a year ago, ministry's data showed.

The ministry issued 2,355 new lodging unit authorizations, compared to 673 in the January-May 2010.

The number of new authorizations for tourism agencies increased 23.5%, to 551.

In the analyzed period, the ministry issued 1,456 new restaurant authorizations, almost tripled from 561 in the first five months of 2010.

Between May 2 and 24, 2011, there were 19,150 new contracts signed for employment in hotels and restaurants, according to the ministry.
