Foreign Investment In Romania Up To EUR1.29B In January-May

Romanian foreign direct investment, or FDI, rose to 1.29 billion euros in January to May, from EUR1.09 billion in the same period of 2014, data from the central bank showed Tuesday.

Of the total FDI, equity stakes (including estimated net profit) reached EUR650 million, and net intra-group lending was of EUR637 million.

In 2014, the FDI stood at EUR2.43 billion, down from EUR2.7 billion in the previous year.

Romania's current account balance posted a deficit of EUR312 million in the first five months, from a deficit of EUR424 million in the same period of last year.
