Education: Winter, Spring Breaks Extended In 2011-2012 School Year

The 2011-2012 school year will not include a break between semesters but the winter and spring breaks will be extended by one week each, Education Minister Daniel Funeriu said Tuesday.

The winter break will last three weeks instead of two and the spring break will be extended to two weeks instead of one.

"The first semester of the 2011-2012 school year starts on September 12 and ends on December 23, 2011. Primary school children will have a break between October 22 and 30. The winter break starts on December 24, 2011 and ends on January 15, 2012," said Funeriu.

The second semester starts on January 16, 2012 and ends on June 22.

Spring break will be between April 7 and 22, and the summer break will last from June 23 to September 9.
