Romania's "Green House" program will be reopened to individuals on June 1, Environment Minister Laszlo Borbely announced Wednesday.

Borbely said the program received around 18,300 applications, of which about 14,600 have already been evaluated. Around 20 million lei (EUR4.85 million) have been paid through the program, said the minister.

The "Green House" program is designed to encourage sustainable home heating. Applicants may receive a subsidy of up to RON6000 to install solar panels or systems using wood pellets, briquettes or various forms of plant, farming or wood waste as fuel. The program also disburses up to RON8000 to support the installation of heat pumps.
