05.17.2011 By Ioana Tudor

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday tacitly adopted a bill whereby the Health minister will become a permanent member of the country’s highest defense body, CSAT.

The bill was put forward by ruling democrat liberal MP Dan Zatreanu.

The lower house's defense committee was against the adoption of the draft normative act.

CSAT's permanent members are: the ministers of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Economy, Justice and Finance, the Romanian Intelligence Service director, the Foreign Intelligence Service director, the head of the General Staff and the presidential adviser on national security.

The Senate is the deciding chamber for this bill.
