Romania Would Need EUR16B To Compensate Owners Of Nationalized Properties In Cash

Romania would need to spend 70 billion lei (EUR16 billion) on financial compensation for the owners of properties nationalized by the former communist regime; more than half this amount would go to the Roman Catholic Church, which has filed claims for 88,000 properties.
