As politicians continue their battle that culminated on Friday night with the suspension of Traian Basescu as president of Romania, sending him to face a popular vote on whether to keep him in office or not, Romanians, companies and the economy as a whole are weighing the losses from the weakening of the leu, the increase in Romania’s risk premium (CDS) and higher interest rates on leu-denominated loans.
