BCR Asigurari De Viata: Premiums Up 10% In First Quarter

Romanian insurer BCR Asigurari de Viata, part of the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), Monday reported gross subscribed premiums of 89.5 million lei (EUR21.3 million) in the first quarter, about 10% higher than in the same period a year ago.

The value of managed assets stood at RON554.2 million at the end of March, up 47.3% on the year, the insurer said in a news release.

Its operating profit stood at RON7.1 million in the first quarter of 2011.

BCR Asigurari de Viata is a member of the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), which also owns BCR Asigurari, Omniasig and Asirom on the Romanian market.

VIG reported a loss before taxes of EUR5 million in Romania in the first quarter, compared to a profit of EUR7.4 million in the same period a year ago, as gross underwritten premiums dropped 2%, to EUR144.5 million.
