Romania's Government is not considering lowering the value added tax for anything, Finance Minister Gheorghe Ialomitianu said Wednesday, in reply to National Housing Agency (ANL) official Romeo Dragan who said VAT on construction materials could be lowered.

"[Dragan] is not part of the Government. We are not considering any VAT cuts," said Ialomitianu.

Dragan, who is the deputy manager of the country's housing agency, said Tuesday during a conference hosted by business daily Ziarul Financiar that the Government was considering reducing the VAT on construction materials.
