Leu Rises Vs Euro In Quiet Session

The Romanian leu rose against the euro in early session Friday, trading around 4.43 units in a quiet market with low transferred volumes.

The leu opened at 4.43/4.432 to the euro, from 4.433/4.4345 to the euro at Thursday close.

The local currency extended its gains after the first transfers to an early high of 4.425 per euro. By around 10:45 local time (GMT0745), the leu returned to the opening levels.

Romania’s central bank set the leu’s exchange rate at 4.4403 per euro Thursday, from 4.4511 per euro in the previous session.

On the money market Friday morning, overnight rates were at 2.35%-2.85% a year, slightly higher on the day.
