Constanta Becomes More Interesting For Airlines

05.15.2011 ZF English

After registering 78,000 passengers last year, Mihail Kogalniceanu airport, located close to the Romanian seaside, might record a traffic increase this year.

Carpatair airline has announced it will introduce three flights per week to Istanbul, after Ryanair, Blue Air and Air Berlin have recently introduced new flights departing from this airport.

However, the traffic of the airport in Constanta is much lower than that reported by airports on the Greek or Turkish seaside.

While the Kogalniceanu airport attracts less than a hundred thousand tourists a year, foreign airports located next to travel resorts receive millions of tourists per year.

In the first four months of this year, the Constanta airport had a traffic of 16,075 passengers, which compares with 14,387 in the similar period of last year, according to company officials.

Carpatair will introduce flights to Istanbul from Constanta starting June 15.
