Development Ministry Launches Auction To Restore Over 610 Km Of Roads For RON3.8B

The Romanian Development and Tourism Ministry has launched an open auction for the last seven road restoration projects included in the National Infrastructure Development Program, estimated at 3.8 billion lei (about EUR927 million), VAT excluded.

The ministry wants to upgrade 610.4 kilometers of county roads and 2,733.1 km of local interest roads in 14 counties between 2011 and 2013.

The counties targeted are Cluj, Alba, Bistrita Nasaud, Maramures, Dolj, Gorj, Valcea, Sibiu, Vaslui, Bacau, Harghita, Mures, Hunedoara and Timis.

The contracts are estimated at about RON284.5 million for Cluj, RON257.5 million for Alba, RON311.2 million for Bistrita Nasaud, RON269.3 million for Maramures, RON282.5 million (Dolj), RON270.6 million (Gorj), RON288.2 million (Valcea), RON256.9 million (Sibiu), RON273.6 million (Vaslui), RON256.7 million (Bacau), RON291.5 million (Mures), RON266.2 million (Harghita), RON265.6 million (Hunedoara) and RON270.9 million (Timis), without VAT.

Constructors will observe the cost standards set by the ministry, the public institution said in a press release.

Contract awarding criteria will consider the lowest price.

The Government will run the National Infrastructure Development Program between 2011 and 2020. It is managed by the ministries of Development and of the Environment, according to an emergency ordinance approved in November last year.

The 20 road restoration projects included in the program are estimated at about RON13 billion, VAT excluded. (EUR1=RON4.1060)
