Romania To Promote Tourist Brand On Topoloveni Plum Jam's Label

05.03.2011 By Gavrila Oana

Romania’s tourist brand will be promoted on the label of Topoloveni plum jam ("Magiunul de prune Topoloveni") under a one-year protocol signed Tuesday by the jam’s producer and the country’s Tourism Ministry.

On April 8, the European Commission said Topoloveni plum jam ("Magiunul de prune Topoloveni") had become one of the 1.000 products included in the European quality system, after it was entered in the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications, according to the European Commission.

"We have received approval to use Romania's tourist brand on our labels," said Diana Stanciulov, an official of the jam producer, Sonimpex.

Sonimpex, a company that employs about 20 people, bought in 2001 the first plum jam factory in the country, in Topoloveni, southern Romania.
