Romania’s Steel Production Rises 2.3% On The Year In April

Romania’s steel production increased 2.3% in April, to 340,000 tons, from 332,000 in the same interval of 2010, according to the World Steel Association.

European Union production increased by 2.2% to 15.8 million tons, while on a global level production increased 5%, to 126.9 million.

In the first four months of the year, Romania produced 1.3 million tons of steel, up 11.3% from 1.17 million in January-April 2010.

Thus, Romania ranks 14th in the EU with respect for volumes produced in each of the timeframes analyzed.

The World Steel Association was founded in 1967 and it is one of the largest organizations of its type, bringing together 180 steel producers, including 19 of the world's 20 largest companies.
